Sheila Gilheany

Sheila Gilheany is the CEO of Alcohol Action Ireland, where for more than five years she has been leading advocacy and policy efforts to reduce alcohol-related harm in Ireland. For more than a decade, AAI has been highly active in advocating for the introduction in Ireland of comprehensive health information labelling of alcohol products, including a cancer warning.

She is a member of the boards of Eurocare and Mental Health Reform. Previously, she has led organisations in science and education including the Institute of Physics in Ireland and the Irish Centre for Talented Youth.

 She holds a BSc and PhD in Physics and Astrophysics from Queen's University Belfast.
