Paula O'Brien
Paula O’Brien is an Associate Professor at Melbourne Law School, where she directs the Health Law and Ethics Network and the Health and Medical Law Masters program. Her research focuses on public and global health law, including the regulation of harmful consumer commodities, health care access, and public health emergencies.
She is a leading expert on alcohol regulation, exploring its impact under domestic and international trade law. Paula advises the World Health Organization and government bodies, and her work influences legal reforms and policy development. She won the Barbara Falk Award for Teaching Excellence in 2020 and teaches health, torts, and administrative law.
