Nijole Gostautaite Midttun

Nijole Gostautaite Midttun is the president of the Lithuanian Tobacco and Alcohol Control Coalition. She has background in medicine, psychiatry and health psychology, has worked in variety of health care service settings in Lithuania and Norway. For nearly two decades she has been actively involved in mental health advocacy, including focus on alcohol and tobacco control policy.

She is asecond term board member of the Eurocare and expert in ALHWIEG group, board member of the European Centre for Monitoring Alcohol Marketing (EUCAM), Nordic alcohol and drug policy network (Nordan) and Lithuanian Psychiatric Association.

Some of the recent projects involve WHO Quality rights implementation in Lithuania, development of the brief smoking cessation intervention for schools, contributing to the development of the National substance control program, implementing a training program for addiction counsellor services in Lithuania. Her research interests are in the field of mental health, alcohol control policy, subjective health, and quality of life.
