Constitutive meeting of the Alcohol Policy Youth Network (APYN) in Budapest

The first youth network on alcohol policy was established in Budapest, from 28-30 March: Alcohol Policy Youth Network (APYN).

The Constitutive meeting gathered more than 30 people in the European Youth Centre of the Hungarian capital.

One of the major's goals of the APYN is to capacitate young people to be active players at the definition, implementation and evaluation of alcohol policies and programmes at the local, national, European and international levels.

In total, 21 youth organisations, identified among the member organisations of the European Youth Forum (National Youth Councils and International Youth Organisations) are already members of the network and participated in the Constitutive meeting where a strategic action plan for 2008-2009 was carefully (re)written.

APYN's project is promoted by Eurocare, in partnership with the European Youth Forum, and with the support of DG SANCO of the European Commission, as well as in cooperation with other International Intergovernmental Institutions, such as WHO and UNICEF.

Supporting the creation of the APYN is a joint commitment of Eurocare and the European Youth Forum in the European Alcohol and Health Forum.

On the 16th of April the APYN was accepted as member of the European Alcohol and Health Forum.
