Campaign for excise duty cut ignores the significant harm and costs associated with alcohol misuse in Ireland

Alcohol Action Ireland has said that the cut in excise duty sought by the alcohol industry would only serve to make the very cheapest alcohol for sale in supermarkets even cheaper and come directly at the expense of the health, wellbeing and safety of people in Ireland.

Alcohol harm in the context of sexual orientation and transgender identity

At least two academic publications have been released recently on the subject of alcohol harm in the context of sexual orientation and transgender identity, one of them by SHAAP (1) (Eurocare’s member) in partnership with Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU), and the other one by researchers from the University of Georgia (USA) (2), published by Drug and Alcohol Dependence.

New study supports link between alcohol advertising and adolescent drinking

A study published today in the scientific journal Addiction finds that exposure to several different types of alcohol marketing is positively associated with the amount and frequency of drinking among adolescents across Europe.
